Racing has been the sport for the Willis family as Jason’s father, Wayne Willis, was a very successful Gravelrama 4WD Hill Climber as well as a heads up drag Racer. At the young age of 12, Wayne and Jason thought the sport of go-karting would be a great way to spend some time together and introduce the sport of auto racing to the young Willis. They purchased a kart together and Jason made his auto racing debut at his home track in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The two of them traveled around the heart of the sport going to races from Ohio, all across Indiana to Illinois. With many wins under the belt of the Indiana native in the ranks of the go-kart, the Willis Racing Team decided to move up to the three-quarter midgets, commonly called the “TQ’s” in 1998. Jason started his TQ career with the UMRA, an Indiana TQ association, and had many heat and fast dash wins while also dominating 7 features and winning the UMRA Asphalt Season Championship in 2007.
